Lime Kilns

Flux regularly inspects lime kiln and advices on repairs.
The picture shows a bricked lining at the end of the service life. Also a new lining shows cracks after one campaign, these will close during heating up.

Steelplants

The productivity in steel plants is influenced by furnace availability and as such the refractory consumption. FLUX optimises the furnace linings and engineers improved designs.

Silicon carbide materials

A company that is specialised in repairs and linings for waste incinerators asked Flux for advice on Silicon Carbide materials for protection of the membrane walls. Oxidation testing was done according ASTM. Materials from several suppliers were tested and the results were analysed. It shows that there exist significant differences in the qualities that are used in waste incinerators.

Wall repair system

FLUX has developed a wall repair system for coke batteries using fused silica smart blocks. The smart blocks are suitable for most coke batteries. The design enables reliable repairs and allows for quick building and fast heat up.

Wall replacement for coke battery

An end wall replacement for a coke battery engineered by FLUX. FLUX uses 3D models for both steel construction and refractories. Heat flow calculations are used in combination with expansion calculations for the design of the expansion provisions.

Hot blast outlet

FLUX designed a hot blast outlet for a hot blast stove using pre-fabricated rings with interlocking bricks. For larger diameter stoves also relieving arches are applied using similar shapes.

Refractory optimization

Flux was asked for advice on refractory optimization for an EAF steel plant. Advice was given on steel ladles and the selection of refractory materials, bricking and heating. Guide lines for inspections and criteria for safe operations are reviewed.
